About
Hi, I'm Martin Kaposváry
I like to create. I live life with a difference.
Art is my essence. I am dyslexic and dysgraphic, I perceive life in images and sounds. My work is on the border between the happy and the dark world.
I paint images with soul - to amazement and reflection - in different artistic styles. I am interested in the technique of the painting itself, aiming sometimes at surprising results. I like thoughtful and precise work.
I studied Promotional Graphics at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts and then at the University of Ostrava under Professor Balabán, majoring in Art Education and Art Production with a specialization in Studio Painting.
Not only painting, but also music is my life. In the past I had a metal band, but over time I opened my mind to other genres. Currently I like to create electronic music blending different musical styles.
My lovely wife and I have created an artistic retreat in our home where we create all kinds of art together. I am also a proud father. We guide our son to a creative approach to life. Not only the visual and musical arts, but also nature and animals are important to us. Together and with my wife's mother, who also lives with us, we share a love of nature and respect for life and death.
I like to present my art in the form of exhibitions and lectures at various events, and participate in various national and international competitions. I have already won many awards.
I've been in business since 2010, my wife and I have a company called Fantasmagoria Art, which deals with various types of art, not just custom art. Our company portfolio includes painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, tattooing, and art and formal tattoo classes.
My art is authentic. Sometimes sweet, sometimes dark. That's really me.
Bio
Martin Kapošváry, born Ficek, lifelong Ostravak, dyslexic and workaholic.
Creativity, tea and mysticism are integral parts of his existence.
His first works of art were created in his childhood at his beloved grandmother's house, where he often ran away from the noise of his siblings with a suitcase full of crayons. His interest in spirituality and the mysterious is reflected in his work at an early age.
After studying at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts, he completed his pedagogical studies at the University of Ostrava in the field of art education and art production - specialization Studio Painting. He started exhibiting his artworks during his studies. His first great success was his participation in the international symposium Paper.
His art also had an overlap into music. He founded the band Xeranthenum, playing dark metal, in which he sang. During the time of the band he organized 4 editions of the metal music festival Sleepy Hollow. At this time Martin was called Dr. Satan, because he was good as hell!
He also started tattooing, in 2010 he founded a tattoo parlour, which is now called Fantasmagoria Art. He has won numerous awards in international tattoo competitions that have confirmed his artistic talent. The biggest award, however, was the publication of his sketchbook in Germany: Martin Ficek Tattoo - Vorlagen. The book is sold all over the world.
He also took his art to the body - he started bodypainting. He participated in Czech and international bodypainting competitions and won many awards.
In 2015 Martin fulfilled his dream and bought a house where he managed to build an artistic anthill under one roof. He has a tattoo parlour, two studios, a workshop, a recording studio and also lives here with his wife, son, mother-in-law, dogs, snake and frog.
For many years he has been a tattoo instructor for Studio Lena's tattoo courses and a judge at tattoo and bodypainting competitions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
He has expanded his artistic practice to include UV paintings of paintings and spatial objects, which he has exhibited at a number of open air festivals across the country (Bio De Janeiro, Beats for Love, Colours of Ostrava, UFO BUFO festival, etc.). He sees the sense in this exhibiting because art meets people. Besides gallery exhibitions, he likes to exhibit or make mural art in spaces close to his heart - tea rooms, rock clubs, etc.
Optics, layering, textures and depth of space are all intertwined in his latest unique work of UV and luminescent paintings, 3D paintings, paintings on burnt wood.
In music, he moves further to the DJ desk where he creates electronic music in several projects with different types of music.
In 2023, he is creating a tattoo parlor podcast called Under the Tattoo Needle with his colleagues at Fantasmagoria Art.
He takes art as a challenge, he is not afraid to go beyond his comfort zone and is always discovering something new in different styles, backgrounds and techniques.
